The first American Assassin photo has made its way online and, as you can see below, it features Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner franchise) as Mitch Rapp in the feature film adaptation of Vince Flynn’s novel.
The political thriller tells the origin story Rapp, a CIA super agent. Long before he was a terrorist’s worst nightmare and before he was quietly loathed and publically lauded by the politicians on Capital Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world, but then tragedy struck. Following this misfortune, Rapp was resurrected from the ashes and recruited to a new life in the nation’s most elite covert operations program. Now he is a man reborn with a mission of retribution.
Directed by Michael Cuesta (Kill the Messenger) and adapted for the screen by Stephen Schiff (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, “The Americans”), the film also stars Michael Keaton (Birdman), Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, Lone Survivor), Sanaa Lathan (The Best Man Holiday, The Perfect Guy) and Shiva Negar (“24 Hour Rental”).
Currently filming in Europe, American Assassin is a collaboration between CBS Films and Lionsgate, and is currently without a release date.
