We now have our first look at Hugh Jackman’s last turn as Wolverine with 20th Century Fox finally releasing the first teaser trailer for Logan, the third standalone Wolverine movie following 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and 2013’s The Wolverine.
While an official synopsis is still forthcoming, the trailer and a recently released black and white photo (seen below) shows a older, beaten-down and scarred mutant. This further seems to confirm rumors that Logan draws inspiration from the “Old Man Logan” comics, where we see Logan not only older, but also dealing with diminished healing ability and chronic pain that leads him to abuse alcohol. The trailer also confirmes the film will include the villainous team of cyborgs known as the Reavers with it looking like the team will be led by Boyd Holbrook, playing cyborg supervillain, Donald Pierce. Finally, the trailer also provides a look at Laura Kinney (played by Dafne Keen), also known in the comics as X-23 and the female clone of Wolverine, who will likely play a large role in the film.
The Wolverine helmer James Mangold returned to direct Logan, which hits theaters on March 3, 2017. The film also stars Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant and Patrick Stewart, who is reprising his role as Professor X.
Check out the Logan trailer below along with an international version, which includes an end scene that is graphic and lives up to the film’s R rating.
