Hart, meanwhile, posted the following to his Instagram: “Day 1 of shooting ‘Jumanji’ is officially in the can. We had a amazing first day. The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell….Can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow.”
“Jack is brilliant, Karen is bad assery, Kevin is sharply hilarious and I smell good,” Johnson said, of the cast, while also revealing that he plays Dr. Smolder Bravestone in the film, with Hart as Moose Finbar, Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse and Black as Professor Shelly Oberon.
Johnson also assures us that there is a logical reason for Gillan’s skimpy jungle outfit. “Her jungle wardrobe will make sense when you know the plot. Trust me,” he proclaims.
The original 1995 release, based on Chris Van Allsburg’s book, followed two kids who play an old magic board-game they found, which releases a man (Robin Williams) trapped for decades in it and a host of dangers that can only be stopped by finishing the game. Joe Johnston directed the first version and along with Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce also starred.
As for the
reboot sequel, it’s being directed by Bad Teacher and Sex Tape helmer, Jake Kasdan, with a release date slated for July 28, 2017.
