Patriots Day Trailer Places Mark Wahlberg in Bombing Aftermath

CBS Films and Lionsgate have released a new Patriots Day trailer, which reteams director Peter Berg with his Deepwater Horizon and Lone Survivor star, Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Departed).

Chronicling the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, the film also stars Golden Globe winner Kevin Bacon (Black Mass, Mystic River), Golden Globe winner John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane, Inside Llewyn Davis, Argo), Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Zootopia), and Golden Globe nominee Michelle Monaghan (“True Detective,” Gone Baby Gone).

Patriots Day is an account of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the everyday heroes who inspired the world in the extraordinary hours that followed.

In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of the most sophisticated manhunt in law enforcement history and the selfless acts of heroism by the people of Boston that inspired the world.

Patriots Day makes its way to theaters on January 13, 2017.
